Hey friends,
AI is moving super fast, and it can be hard to keep up.
But rather than diving into every new shortcut, I've been looking at my routines and seeing where AI can help me level up. I want to share two tools I've been using this week which have proved to be real game-changers:
1. Resume GPT- A Custom GPT
Custom GPTs are personalised versions of the native ChatGPT, customised for specific instructions and workflows. There are tons of them out there for you to explore, but I've been impressed by Resume GPT.
You can find it here: ChatGPT > Explore GPT > Productivity > Resume
As the name suggests, Resume GPT is a tool to help you improve and optimise your CV. You upload your current CV, and it'll evaluate it and start providing critical feedback.
As with most AI engines, the more information you provide, the better the results will be. In this case, optimising for the type of role you're looking for and providing as much detail as possible on your current accomplishments works best.
Step 1. The Diagnosis Stage
Uploading your CV triggers a scoring matrix, grading each dimension out of 10. Here's an example from my old CV:
This is the starting point, highlighting areas for improvement.
Step 2. The Treatment Stage
Next, the GPT will review each section and suggest improving the writing, considering the dimensions above. It will also ask for additional information relevant to each section, which will help improve clarity and depth. Take a look at the example below:
You go through your whole CV step by step, drip-feeding more information and tweaking the outputs.
My Thoughts:
My CV had already undergone many iterations, so seeing considerable room for improvement was remarkable. Even though you think your work is good, it can often be a little betterβthat's the beauty of AI
This GPT saves lots of time. I love that it analyses the CV as a whole but allows you to dive deep into each section
AI output has AI signatures. This GPT is a tool to improve your CV but still requires a human touch. AI-written content has tell-tell signs, and most companies will scan for these. Use AI to diagnose the issues, but let your personality shine with the solutions
2. Automating Newsletter Summaries:
I subscribe to many newsletters, which are a great way to gain insights on various topics, with weekly updates in your inbox. But my list keeps growing, making missing out or skimming through the content more common.
I see the emails pop up and make a mental note to read later, but I never do. And I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
To fix this, I built an automated workflow that extracts key insights from newsletters, summarises them using AI, and saves them to a custom Notion database. This way, I can a) quickly review the most essential takeaways without sifting through long emails, b) never miss emails because they are automatically summarised, and c) always have a list of actionable tools in my locker.
I'm not technical, but slowly, I was able to iterate away and join the pieces together. Here's a summary of how I use Zapier, ChatGPT, and Notion to automate the entire process:
Trigger: When I receive a new email from a specific newsletter, Zapier detects it
Extract Content: Zapier pulls the email body and sends it to ChatGPT
AI Summarisation: ChatGPT generates key insights and actionable steps while ignoring promotions
Notion Update: The summarised content is automatically added to a structured Notion database with categories and timestamps
Every time I receive a newsletter, it's instantly summarised into bullets with 3-4 action points - without me lifting a finger. Here's an example from Sahil Bloom's latest newsletter:
These summaries take less than a minute to read and easily give the 80/20, plus I can always access the source for the few cases where I'd want to dive deeper.
Iβll be testing this out over the next week as the newsletters fly in, here are some of my favourites right now:
Dan Goβs High Performance Journal
Khe Hyβs RadReads
Sahil Bloomβs Curiosity Chronicle
Colbyβs 1% Better
Yath Premβs Life Unlocked
While I'm still naive about AI, I'm looking forward to immersing myself a little more, and sharing how I use AI to improve and boost my life.
Thank you for reading this far
Heer βπΌ
I love this Heer, using AI to add micro efficiency gains has been the main focus of my pass time recently π so Iβm very glad to see you doing the same and thank you for considering my newsletter as your top 5 - thatβs very kind! Letβs catch up soon ππΎ
